  1. just plug 6 in for X

  2. -5(x + 2) + 3 = 5

    -5(6 + 2) + 3 = 5

    -5(8) + 3 = 5

    -40 + 3 = 5

    -37 = 5

    oops, looks like 6 is an incorrect answer.

    Now to solve for the correct value of x

    -5(x + 2) + 3 = 5

    -5x - 10 + 3 = 5

    -5x - 7 = 5

    -5x = 5 + 7

    -5x = 12

    x = 12/(-5)

    x = -12/5

  3. -5(x+2) + 3= 5

    -5x -10 +3 = 5

    -5x = 5 +10-3

    -5x= 12

    5x= -12

    x = -12/5

    I think your answer is wrong...this is what I got not sure if its right

    if you plug 6 into the equation it doesn't work out so i guess you should try again!

  4. put six in for x and see if both sides end up equal.

  5. I use the method PWAC. Problem,Work,Answer,Check.

    (it sounds like Quack with a P)

    Problem: -5(x+2)+3=5

    Work:(plug 6 in) -5(6+2)+3=5

                            -5(8)+3=5

                             -40+3=5

    Answer:              -37=5   X

    And to check... you get the idea.

    but apparnently 6 is not the answer.

  6. -5(6+2)+3=5

    -5(8)+3=5

    -40+3=5

    -37=5 FALSE

  7. plug it in

    since X=6

    So replace 6 w/ X

    -5(6+2) +3=5

    -30 + -10 +3 =5

    40+3 =5

    43 = 5

    43/5 =

    X=8.6

    so you need to recheck your answer

  8. first of all in -5(X+2) + 3=5     X doesnt equal 6 it equals -12/5...

    subtract 3 to the right side to get -5(X+2)=2

    then distribute to make it -5X + -10=2

    add 10 to the right side to make it -5X=12

    divide the right side by -5 to make it X= -12/5

    then to see if it is right plug -12/5 back into the original equation for X.

  9. you would substitute 6 for x

  10. 6 is not the right answer -5(6+2)+3=-37 not 5 x is lower then 6

  11. you replace the "x" with 6 and then solve the problem.

    so it would be -5(6+2)+3=5

  12. plug the 6 back into the orignal equation

    -5(6+2) + 3 =

    -5(8) + 3 =

    -40 + 3 = -37

    6 would not be a solution to this problem

    -5x - 10 + 3 = 5

    -5x -7 = 5

    -5x = 12

    x = -12/5 is what I got solving it out
