  1. Not really.  Demand, or lack thereof, is one reason as mentioned.

But, this was not considered one of Cadillac's better offerings ever.

It is a rebadged Opel (European GM) offering.

  2. sounds okay? how many miles? remember you get what you pay for? i'd have your mechanic check it out first....

  3. Even if it is in showroom condition with very low mileage, it wouldn't be worth much more than that. It's 10 years old. According to Edmunds, a dealer would offer about $1400 and a private party might sell it for no more than $2200.

  4. no not too bad, i would do a car fax on it.  the catera was only produced for a very short time so there is not many left out there or a big demand for them

  5. go to kelly blue book (kbb.com) to find out the value of the car. and always negotiate!!!

  6. Its not too cheap - but the cars are VERY poor build quality, and expensive to repair.  They used a lot of European parts, and are not interchangeable with other Cadillac models.  The Catera was the 2nd biggest flop in Cadillac history, behind the Cimarron.

$1995 is cheap - but get a good mechanic to inspect it THOROUGHLY before buying.  Otherwise you can be in for some very expensive repairs.

The Catera, due in part to reliability problems including initial tire wear issues caused by an "autobahn-friendly" alignment specification, and engine failures (for which a recall was eventually offered by GM) as well as a disappointing marketing campaign, was dropped after the 2001 model year. Consumer and automotive publications have generally reported the Catera's reliability improved significantly with the 1999 model year. Approximately 95,000 Cateras were sold in the United States in its five-year production run.

  7. Sounds about right for an 11 year old car.
