Question:

I found this fruit and was wondering if anyone knows what it is.?

I found it growing on a small bush in Alabama. The bush is about 4 feet tall and the branches are thin and flexible. The fruit smells kind of like a citrus fruit and tastes like a lemon.   5. Try Quince.

    People used to grow them for making jelly, jams, marmalade and so on. They are sour and just a bit bitter. They produce a lot of pectin.

    One of the reason they are very common in some areas is they were used as root stocks for grafting apple varieties onto.

    When the orchards were left uncared for the roots sent suckers up and grew quinces.

  7. I think it IS a small green apple. The bush you described are found in abundance here in Eastern NC...so i wonder why it tastes like a lemon. Probably isn't ripe? No, it should be seasoned...it Looks seasoned...Hmmmm

  9. it looks like its a transparent,a type of apple thats greenish yellow/white if that makes sense, its not a transparent though because im pretty sure those grow on a tree not a bush...hmmm i think about it and get back to you...
