I have to move them because I'm working on a project in my backyard. They're perfectly round and they have a tan spot on them.. which I think is suppost to be the yolk. I was told that you had to "dig them as you found them" but they actually rolled down the hill while i was digging, so i dont kno which way is which, but I think your suppost to have the yolk on the bottom.

  1. you should have left them where you found them!

  2. Leave them where you found them, and let nature take care of itself.

  3. Leave them how they were

  4. Stop messing with nature for your own personal gain. Leaves the egg alone and redesign your project so as not to mess with nature.

Don't mess with nature. You've seen Hurricane Katrina. That's her way of dealing with people.  Very soon we'll all be long gone and after nature rids of its cancer called humans.

  5. Well if the eggs didn't break the best thing to do would be to take them to the nearest shelter or rescue center or go find another place along the river dig a hole and set them in there and keep a daily whatch on them.

  6. You have one of three choices: 1) Leave them alone, 2) relocate them, if you feel you must, or 3) harvest them and turn them turtle soup cuisine (believe it or not, it is actually a delicacy in some some foreign countries)

  7. Heather, I am with you on this one.  You totally did the right thing by moving them and attempting to save their little lives.

Just be sure to try to bury them at the same distance from the water as the mother did originally, so that they can make it into the water at hatching time.  Also, if possible, in a place with the same basic vegetation types (on land & in the water) so that they will have a place to hide from other predators once they get there.

YOU GO GIRL!!!  Protect wildlife at all costs!!  Never let anyone tell you any different.

I don't have an answer to which side goes up or down, but wanted to stick up for ya here and let ya know that some of us in the world are on your side.

  8. If these are eggs from a native turtle you could be breaking the law by disturbing them.  You project in that one particular area cannot be put on hold to help nature take it's course?  Please let the turtle eggs be even if it inconveniences you just a little.

  9. Berry them in sand and forget about them ,they will hatch baby turtles by themselves.

  10. There best done "easy over"!

  11. I would probably just leave them alone.  You could always call your local Game and Fish Commission too.

  12. They're dead. Toss them. After a day, the embryo will be killed if the egg is rotated. You tried.
