Up until 20 weeks I gained 3 1/2 pounds total. I went for my 24 week check up and gained 7 pounds in a month. I really have not done too much different. Is this normal? Has anyone else had a huge weight gain like this?

Before I got pregnant I was 106 and 5'2.

  1. before pregnancy i was 124 and 5'3.

    At 11 weeks i gained 9 pounds.

At 15 weeks i gained 2 more pounds.

At 18 weeks i gained 9 more pounds.

At 22 weeks i gained 6 more pounds(i gained all the 6 pounds when i was 19 weeks.I weighed myself everyday during weeks 19-21) .

So up to 22 weeks i gained a total of 26 pounds.

Now im 24 weeks 3 days and i dont kno if ive gained any more weight yet. My doctor wasnt concerned about my weight gain when i asked. She also said it was fine when i gained 9 pounds in 3 weeks, which i thought was too much. I

My sister is 23 weeks and gained 12 pounds in a month and her doctor said to change her eating habits. She gained 19 pounds total.

  2. Ive gained more than you and im not as far along.

Before being pregnant i was 5'2 and 98 pounds.

Now im 18 weeks and have gained a total of 13 pounds and i only eat one meal a day.=/.

    hahaha.

  3. Yes, that is quite normal. You are supposed to gain between 1 1/2 and 2 pounds per week in your second trimester, so it sounds like you are right on schedule.

I too gained 7.5 pounds between my 20 week and 24 week appointments.

    Don't worry!

  4. Yes, the same thing happened to me @ my 24 week scan I was tiny when I got preg, still am except for the belly Id only gained about 5 pds till that point, and then i went in & was up another 8 pds I almost fainted I walk everywhere, & I eat very well

All of the women I know that were teeny going into preg generally gained an avg of 33 pds or more over the duration 100% of them took it off & they all look marvelous

I was not down with the weight gain in the begining either,...but @ my 24 week checkup I got a reality check lol I am preg, I will gain weight no matter what, and 90% of women all look the same @ the end of the 9 months Rolly polly 'sigh' ....As long as you try to stay withing your range, you will be able to take it off post baby In the meantime, just remember as a former teeny tiny you need the extra weight to help you sustain the pregnancy :)

  5. i think u suppose to gain between 25-35 lbs during the entire pregnancy.. aslong as ur not eating ever minute on the hour every hour..... u will be ok..... this is the only time when its good to gain weight and still be s**y!!! enjoy the good times

  6. that's fine.  If you were gaining weight too fast your doctor would tell you.   Trust me.. I just gained 8 lbs in TWO WEEKS.  Though this is due to extra fluid retention.. but it sucks.

  7. I did that.

    6lbs in one month..

I just grow in spurts...plus my junk food intake is going up!

    Dont feel bad.

As long as your baby is healthy your fine :)
