Former Australian chairman of selectors, Andrew Hilditch, said that he “gave it his all”, when talking to the media following his axing from the role.

The 55-year-old was appointed as the national selector, before being hired as the chairman of selectors in April 2006. Although his stint initially saw the team dominating the World in every format of the game, his last five years have been gripped in controversy.
However, disappointed by the Board’s decision, the former selector said that he always gave his 100 percent to the Kangaroos' cause, which has seen them rule the cricketing world for the best part of 15 years.

"They were always going to be difficult years as chairman with the exodus of so many great players, but I have given it my all and always acted to the best of my ability to achieve the best outcome for Australian cricket," he said.
The Kangaroos team is in a re-building phase since the 2007 Ashes whitewash on home soil. Since that, many senior players have retired from the games, which saw them loosing back to back Ashes in 2009 and 2010, to the English opposition.
After that, they could not defend their World Cup crown, which they held for more than a decade.

However, all this led to a review under Don Argus, who is Australia’s most senior board room figure. Under his recommendation, the selection panel will now include a full-time chairman called National selector, followed by two part-time selectors, along
with Head Coach and the Captain of the Australian Cricket Team.
