I have had trouble sleeping for some time, so I recently put it down to my 2 coffees a day so I decided to cut them out.

Ever since then i've been incredibly grumpy and sleep deprived. I got to bed at 11:45 every night and find myself still awake at 1:45 - 2:30.

I get up every day at 7, except on weekends and i can't even fall asleep for a nap..

Whats going on!!??!!??

  1. try drinking milk this time

  2. Try some melatonin.  You can purchase this over the counter.  Or you can eat turkey as your body will convert the tryptophan in turkey to melatonin.

  3. Oh, do I know how you feel!

No matter the amount of coffee you drink per day, it's still caffeine.  You're body gets used to having it.  You take it away and your body rebels.  Just like addiction.

I used to drink coffee all day long, clear into the evening.  I backed off to no coffee and whoa!   I wasn't a nice person at all.

I love my coffee and I'm back to drinking it.  I don't drink it past five o'clock however and I don't have to have it next to me every second.

Try decaff for awhile then mix regular with your decaff and see how you  do.  Try any of the calming teas like 'sleepy time' at night.

Coffee junkies abound in this world.  It can be two cups a day or three pots a day, but once you cut yourself off cold turkey, you'll notice changes.

You being a no-meat person shouldn't reflect on your sleep at all.  Every once in awhile if I feel "off" I'll fast for a day.  Taking no food.  I drink water, no coffee, eat light crackers because of the meds I have to take, but that's it.

I hope this helps, let me know.
