  1. You get the head rush because cigarette smoke displaces the amount of oxygen into your lungs, and therefore your blood. The term for what you are experiencing is hypoxia- albeit a mild form. Hypoxia is a shortage of oxygen to the brain, which causes the head rush and occasionally dizziness. My guess is you haven't been smoking for very long, because most smokers who have been at it a while don't suffer that symptom as often. Your body is simply not used to the reduced amount of oxygen in your system. My best recommendation is to quit while you can, once you no longer suffer this effect, you are used to the hypoxia (which really isn't good for you anyaways) and it will be harder for you to quit,

  2. "Immediately after smoking, there is a "kick" caused in part by nicotine stimulation of the adrenal glands and resulting discharge of epinephrine (adrenaline). The rush of adrenaline stimulates the body and causes a sudden release of glucose as well as an increase in blood pressure, respiration, and heart rate, according to the National Institutes of Drug Abuse.

"Additionally, nicotine indirectly causes a release of dopamine in the brain regions that control pleasure and motivation."

  3. OMG - are you serious? Why would you even try to smoke? To fit in? It's restricting the blood vessels (capillaries) in your brain. I'm a smoker and have been, off and on, for 40 yrs. It's not easy to quit smoking, so if you don't start, you'll not have to worry about quiting.
