  1. are you using the bt home hub phone for this? if its using the broadband talk portion of the service not the normal voice line then line quality wouldnt produce sounds like you have as a fault on the line would drop packets which would result in dead spots in the conversation so it doesnt sound like a line issue.

it sounds like you have something on a similar frequency or emmitting a similar frequency (could be something as simple as a halogen light) to your hub effecting that part of it that communicates with the phone.

one thing i would suggest is if you can borrow a spare home hub phone from a friend see if that works with out the noise then if it does its a faulty handset and depending on how long youve had it call bt regarding a replacement (remember that it has a standard 12 month gaurentee like all electrical gear)

    thanks

  2. When you say static do you mean a 'crackling' type noise or a 'hissing' type noise ?

A crackling type noise might indicate a line fault. To prove this take out all your phone extensions from the master socket and plug ONE 'phone into it. If it crackles still it's possibly a line fault so call your Service Provider and report a fault.

A hissing type noise sounds like you might have a faulty filter or are using a phone plugged into a socket without a filter.

  3. Have you tried replacing your filters?
