I get a " cannot post to my group,pending membership" how long does the "pending" take??

Depends on the group and how active the owner or moderator is,  Could be anywhere from a few minutes or  until the cows come home.  If youdon't hear within a day or so my suggestion would be to look for another group.

if i rember right it takes about a week

pending can take 14 days- if it goes beyond that 14 days, it's a big clue there is no active owner. there is no way to hurry a pending membership either, and nothing to do but wait
