I get a rash when I sweat? And I can't shower often?

I'm 13 and I started exercising every morning on a new cross trainer, it's fine ( a bit boring though) but I keep getting a rash when I use it. This has happened before. When I was in year 7 I took part in a "Skipathon" I skipped with a rope for about 4 or 5 hours overall. I noticed my skin stung and dried out when I sweated, then it went red, puffy and sore, then started weeping. And when I did a 3000m in a p.e. lesson I had to take a cold bath at home it was so swollen. Any suggestions to stop it? What could be causing it? I want to be able to exercise, because I'm overweight and want to be healthier. To lose weight though, it has to be cardiovascular doesn't it? And I can't do that efficiently without sweating, can I? I can only swim twice a week due to my problem skin, so I do 45 minutes intense training sessions. Is there any other sports I can do for cardio which won't make me sweat?

Also I can't shower daily because it dries my skin out, urgh...

  1. I get the same thing mate, when i sweat heavy or have a shower i get like red areas appering which itch like h**l for about 3/4 of an hour.It drives you mad.Ate you on any type of meds or steroids, they can cause this. The thing to do is go to see your dr and ask for some LORATADINE tablets, there the best, there anti hystermines and take half an hour before exercising and that works wonders. You can buy them in pharmacys, but they make u drowsey, loratadine dont have side effects at all..go see your doc ok

  2. Bring a spray bottle (you know, those bottles with spray nozzles) Fill it with water and spray it on yourself everytime you feel sweaty and sticky.

Before going to your training, put powder on. on your back, neck, and anywhere you sweat a lot (also the rash areas)

But I really would suggest a daily shower. A warm shower is best since it opens up your pores for cleaning. You did mention that it dries your skin. The solution: lotion. You may not like putting it on (personally, i don't) but it can help. Proper moisturizing is important for dry skin.

And oh! Use ANTIBACTERIAL soap when taking your baths. It can help lessen the possibilities of rash-ing.

    Good luck.

  3. If your in the UK you can get anti-chaffing products. They stop your skin rubbing against itself/clothing.

When you are excersizing i suggest you wear loose clothing. And you should shower daily, you just need a good moisturiser afterwards.
