Kay. I'm 13 years old, and I've gotten my "gift" three times. the past two it has been ExTREMELY heavy. I'm supposed to start my period around the time school starts, and I don't want to make the weird first impression of having red spots on the back of my skirt and stuff. What should I do? Is it normal to have them this heavy?? I'm willing to do ANYTHING to go without leaks.

  1. hey,

i would wear two pads to be on the safe side or possibly the night time pads you can get. also go for regular bathroom checks between classes and just while you have them wear darker pants or a skirt to hide it incase leakages occure.

  2. okay although those are all possibilities and the quickest way to deal with it, in the long run you really should talk to your mom about going on birth control. i know it may  be really uncomfortable because you're young but if its so heavy that its almost abnormal its the best thing you can do. Going on birth control will make it a lot lighter and last on an average of about 3-5 days depending on how long you last now. No it doesn't make you gain weight like everyone says it does, thats just a myth, how ever some side affects of it is breast growth, but not many people see that as a bad thing. Trust me though its a good thing to consider and it will really help in the long run and it gets rid of cramps completely and bloating is a lot less also.

and again if you're concerned about it because you're young, a friend of mine about your age was on it because she was having the same problem and it was also very irregular for her. she went on the pill for a year and when she went off it, being on the pill so long helped the problem fix its self.

  3. how do you know its so heavy if you only got it 3 times, its prolly perfectly normal you just dont know it yet.

tampons have saved everyones lives from embarssment and leakage.

the thought of being 14 and using pads only scares me... just practice with a tampon and start using them!

  4. drinking lots of water and exercising can help minimize your flow. Just exercise and it'll help.

  5. Ok.......I had the same problem...but it only happend once...THANK GOD...Ok make sure you buy the Longer kind of pads with the wings......(They go up to your butt hole)then If your not afraid.....Try tampons and then put one of those longer pads on below it and the take some pads and tampons to school.....(Buy those tampons tommorow and start practicing and it will hurt maybe at first if your hymen hasn't broken but just try)...Then after you were able to use those......Go buy a bigger size thats for a heavier flow..Then you are all set for school......Hope I helped and remember Don't wear a tampon for over no more than 6 hours...

  6. wear a tampon and a pad at the same time. if you are brave enough and your mom is understanding, ask her if you can take the birth control pills which regulates your period and makes it lighter

  7. the right sized tampon and a liner will do ;]

MAKE SURE you change the liner and the tampon every couple of hours to avoid infection!
