Wirepro (sm) is $6.00. Which I found out we been billed every month. It is a protection for the line in case there is a problem. However it has been so long that we notice no problem.

If i dont have it and with bad luck I get a problem for the phone line. How much are typical repairs ?

here is the detail from aT&T regarding wirepro

What is WirePro(SM)?

For a low monthly fee, WirePro(SM) is a wire protection plan for wiring and telephone lines inside your home. If you report trouble and it is determined by our technicians to be due to your home wiring, the repair will be made without any extra charge.

  1. I would cancel that service. Unless your home is under major reconstruction, most likely, your wiring will last for many years, just like all their other wires. The chances are slim you will need the repairs, I would just save the $6.00 a month, if it ever needs repair, the local phone company will fix it for somewhere around $45.00 to $60.00. You can save that in ten months!! Another nickel and dime the consumer plan!! There are also private parties that do interior wiring repairs at reasonable prices.

  2. Basically what you are paying for is an inside wiring insurance plan. In my opinion it is a scam, but I feel the same about most types of insurance. If your house isn't too old then it doesn't make sense to have a wire protection plan. Typical wire repairs depend on the type of problem, but I would estimate no more than $100 for any inside telephone wiring problem (dog chews through line). I say save the $6.
