  1. to prevent this you should drink a lot of fluid to stop the muscle from constricting. a lot of time muscles cramp up because of dehydration. also, eating a big meal before you run can cause cramps. eat a small meal an hour or two before you run. playing soccer i got those cramps a lot. if you get them you put your arm (the one on the side of the cramp) all the way over your head and bend as far as possible to stretch the muscle out. this always helps!

  2. ok whoever said avoid drinking before running..well that's rubbish you just have to drink and let it go through your system(urinate) then go running, you shouldn't eat or not eat much before you go.. or perhaps you're not drinking enough water before you're goin running if you say when you run outside, maybe you are going in the heat of the day or are not hydrated enough.. also sometimes people just get cramps no matter what or if you are new to running.. you just have to run through them..

  3. I get too and a bunch of people on my track team do too. What I do is try to avoid eating or drinking before I run. It helps alot!

  4. WarmUp before running.

  5. drink about half hour before running, then go to the bathroom. dont eat unless its more than 1-2 hours before you run. if you still get a cramp go slower. put your arms above your head and breathe in and out quickly until your cramp loosens and goes away. then go slow for a bit until you feel all better.

  6. IT'S THE WATER!

You need to drink water as much as you can, but not to much before a run, it will cause more cramps to come, there is other things to do like stretch, before you run which will help a lot. At times there will be nothing to do about it but run through it, it might end up going away faster, that's one thing I had to do while I ran Track or Cross country, because there was no way i was going to stop just because of a cramp.

    Hope i helped!
