Well first of all, I just want to apologize if there is already a question like this. And second, I KNOW I'm not pregnant.

I always get my period every 3 months or so. One year I got it only once. My mom says that I'm just fat so that's why. But I don't think so. I told her that I should see a doctor, but she just told me to exercise and then we'll see.

Anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong?

  2. yus being big and not having periods are related. you need to sort it asap. it isnt healthy. your body has to release the bad blood in there that needs out. you will become thinner too when u start treatment. good luck

  3. You probably have poly cystic ovary syndrome.Obesity and perhaps some unwanted hair is part of it.You must have your hormones checked.FSH,PRL,E2,P,plasmatestestderone and androstenedione and maybe some more also pelvic ultrasonography.Don't worry it can be treated.

  4. There are many reasons why you have irregular periods. You should see your doctor as soon as possible to make sure everything is ok. PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) This is one of the cause of irregular periods and or infertility.I was just like you in my teenage years, I didn't have my period every month. So I went to the doctor and a I was diagnosed with PCOS a few years ago. So you should see your doctor as soon as you can just to be on the safe side.

  5. Heya,

There could be many things causing this. You really do need to see a doctor he will need to perform some blood work and just some general tests in order to find out what is up to cause you to have your periods this irregular. Although it is totally normal to have irregular periods as your still going if your worried you must always contact a doctor. He will most likely put you on something called the pill, this will make your cycle easier to cope with on all areas. And that looks like your best bet at the moment. So go and see your GP.

Your mom is right if your 'obese' or even ' underweight' it can cause your periods to be extra irregular.

But the best bet would be go and see your local GP tell him your problem and have a discussion with him about all your options.

    Hope i helped

  6. Irregular periods are actually common. Weight gain and weight loss can contribute to irregular periods, so if you gained weight in a short period of time, that may be the reason why you are on a weird PMS schedule. I suggest scheduling an appointment with your Gyno and she can answer any questions about it.

  7. Nothing! Being fat doesn't make you grow a pen*s does it?

Well then? Lol Don't worry your period can be irregular for 1-3years and Ive had mine for over a year and its just ONLY regulating, unlike you, when I got mine first I was receiving my period TWICE in one month, so don't worry! Some women don't get theirs until their early 20's so your fine, If you do regular exercise it will help regularize your periods and also make them lighter flow as I have learned
