Question:

I get really nervous before my VolleyBall games and do my worst during the game. Any suggestions?

We won our last game but I did badly! It was the first game of the season but I don't want to be so nervous that I mess up again during the game! At practice I am thought to be one of the best players on the team but when we get to games I'm no help at all!

  1. I found that I did my best before games when I got to the field a little early (5-10 min), moved around a bit (sport specific mvts), and then when my teammates got there just talked and goofed around with them.  This took my mind off the game and relaxed me.  My worst games were when I didn't "goof with the boys".


  2. right b4 the game and whenever u start getting nervous rub ur collar bone (the V shaped bone right under ur neck) thats supposed to realease stress also dont think about messing up think about convidence

  3. what this guy said its true i too  get to my games early toss n pepper with the ball so i can get in  game situation and play my best

  4. Listen to good pump up songs before the game or during warm ups. And most importantly remember that is it just a game! It's not like your life is depended on it. Just have fun and smile

  5. Just like my first year in volleyball. You need to realize that the team needs you to win. It cannot win with only five players giving their best to win. You are needed!! Try relaxing and not looking out on the fans because they are a distraction. If I look up to them and see my friends and classmates, I get scared that they are going to be judging me. But remember, you are one of the best players on the team and no one can take it away from you if you are willing to give that up. Mess up on one point, get back in the game and work to the next. Needless to say, if the team sees you down, they will get down as well. It's a chain reaction. Go out there and take control of the game before it starts to control you.
