My second born twin was 3 ounces lighter than her sister at birth and now she is 3 pounds heavier. I feed them equal portions of food and formula so why is one so much heavier. She started crawling before her sister and I wonder if perhaps she's just built more muscle.

  1.    I don't have twins, but I am a twin and I can tell you my twin sister has always been heavier than me. It's just bone stucture and body mass. It's fine. She'll probibly be taller too.

  2. Yes that built mussel

  3. Different metabolism and if one is crawling, different muscle tone. My mom is a twin and she is not the same size as her twin.

  4. It  could be a combination of the one baby's newly establish muscle tissue due to crawling and the other baby's metabolism.  Everyone has a different metabolism.  My babies aren't twins but my daughter weighed 8 lbs 6 oz at birth and my son weighed 8 lbs 7 oz.  He is 6 months old now and weighs about 3 pounds more than she did at 6 months but he eats way less than she did and has since he was born.  Its kinda weird.  Even though he weighs more he is actually smaller than she was at 6 months too.  As I put her in a size 3 diaper at 4 months and he is still in a 2 and seems like he will be for awhile.  He is still in most 3-6 month clothes as she was in 6-9 by 6 months.  Every baby is different thats all, even twins.

  5. Twins are just like other kids. One's metabolism may be faster than the other one, or she may be bulking up for a growth spurt that her sister isn't. If she starts getting you concerned with her weight, discuss it with her doctor.

  6. Maybe or her metabolism might be different - genetics. If she starts gaining excessive weight take her to a doctor.

  7. Every baby is different, even if they are twins.
