I give my dogs a bath every other week but they stink as soon as they come in from going outside..?

I know bathing them to often will just make them smell worse but what can I do to make them smell better between baths? I regularly wash the bedding in their kennels and the "bath wipes" for dogs don't help...neither does the "doggie perfume" and they hate getting sprayed with that stuff anyways.. I'm clueless as to what else I can try on them..

you could buy them a scented collar. you can purchase them at any local pet store.

Are you scrubbing their skin good enough?  Sometimes mine smells if I don't get into the fur enough...you really have to scrub deep down.

Sounds likek they are picking it up from rolling in something ... You willhave to leash them and go out with them to find out what is happening.   then you ucan deal with the source.

Are they rolling in anything?  If they are try to train them not to.  And do they go swimming?  If you're near a lake or, even better, an ocean, the water will neutralize the odors.

my dog has the same problem, when he goes outside he rolls around in the grass and comes in smelling like p**p. I tried to train him not to roll around but he never really caught on. I would suggest using an all natural dog shampoo because it's better for the dogs and allow you to wash them more frequently.

sorry but there isn't much that you can do besides wiping their fur when they come in.

bathing every other week is way too much.

dogs often 'stink' from the release of stress hormones (if there is no other viable explanation such as rolling in something or playing with very stinky dogs that slime them up).

I've heard good things about Fresh N' Clean.  Of course, if your dogs are outside rolling in things, the shampoo isn't going to last as long, but they do have colognes too.  Here's the website, but I've seen the products at PetSmart:

if they're not rolling in something, and they're just smelling like dogs.  you're going to have to get use to it.
