  1. well if you have caught one bluegill im guessing you are using probably a worm or a piece of bread or something.  If you are fishing from a dock or shore just go out and by some bass lures.  A spinner bait is cheap and easy as is a plastic worm.  Try using some lures and you should catch some bass.  Remember that fish hang around structure

  2. Get a green light you can get them for like 50 bucks and you shine it in the water and after an hour the fish go near it

  3. Here is the shortcut you need to jumpstart your fishing career. Get some one that is a knowledgeable about fishing to take you. Look, learn, and ask questions.Fishing is easy, once you learn the basics. It's just hard to start from scratch, and have to learn everything on your own.

  4. Use a piece of fresh strawberry for bait. My grandma showed me how to do that when I was a kid and we always caught a whole bucket of bluegills that way. Try it. It works!

  8. I've always been really successful with red worms (bright red, white spots) with bluegill and bass. I use live crayfish for cats. That's really all we have in my area.

I live in Missouri - if you're in the Midwest you might try this.

  9. Carry and use a variety of baits, such as: Corn, bread, cheese, and hotdogs... Try adding a pinch of bread to a pinch of cheese and make a cheesy doughball for bait. and switch up your baits until they start biting well or stop biting.

Use bait that is about the same size as your hook.

Make sure your hook is sharp.

Big baits and hooks catch bigger fish, but usually takes longer.

Small baits and hooks usally catch smaller fish , and is usually faster paced... Although many big fish have been caught on small hooks.
