  1. Get a plant mister and a sponge.

(You need one from a pet store, NOT one made for cleaning)

You need a UV light and a 10 gallon tank with sand at the bottom.

Use the plant mister to get the sand slightly damp.

Get the sponge wet and squeeze it out.

Hook up the UV light so that it shines on the sponge.

Every day, you need to mist the sand, and re-wet the sponge.

HINT:  If it dries out before 12 hours, you need to move the lamp further away.

  2. Hermit crabs love the humidity from 70% - 80%

My 29 gal tank is around 77%.

To raise the humidity, spray the tank with dechlorinated water using a plant mister or hermit crab mister.

You can also keep a sea sponge in the water dish. The crabs also sometimes drink from the sponge.

Another thing you can do is put up a climbing background for your hermies. They love climbing on it and if it is damp it will boost your humidity.

Make sure the temperature is right as well. It is ideal to get a dual thermometer and hygrometer.

    Good Luck!
