I got battery on my record that happened in march of 04.

I also got obstruction of justice A year later I learned my lesson now cause Iam older and mature. Now when i went to jail when i lived in ontario california in march of 04, I went to West Valley detention center Jail when i was 19 and got video court on the 3rd day and went to video court judge gave me A O.R. "Own Release" or "own Recon". and time served he said n let me go. Now a Year later I got into A fight with A cop and got charged with onbstruction of justice in Fontana california and went to videocourt in front of the judge who didnt give me A chance to speak and said come back in two weeks. So i said s***w it and asked my parents to bail me out wasnt that much waited two months 2 goto actual court and judge gave me 3 years probation (summary) and A big ticket. My question is when I went for this job they interviewed me on the spot and they asked if I had felonies both of my charges are misdemeanors I said no also on the application they only asked for felonies. Not misdemeanors so they liked me and were gonna hire me and this was like 2 years after my first charge and 3 years after my second charge. So I got A call saying (during my background check) they found something (not some things) and couldnt give me the job and they sent a paper in the mail and it showed my battery not my obstruction of justice does that mean my obstruction of justice doesnt show up. On background checks. Sorry if this to long Iam a good kid iam 23 i dont do drugs and iam having A hard time getting A job. This was only a couple months ago btw. I gotta find jobs that dont do background checks and only drug tests.

  1. Too bad. Sounds like you still haven't figured it out yet. You may not have served a lot of time in jail, but what you have done will follow you the rest of your life. You play, you pay!

  2. If you were convicted of obstruction of justice, then yes it will still show up on a background check.  However, most places of employment are particularly concerned with violent crimes, such as battery, as well as drug charges.  While it may have only been a misdemeanor, it is still considered a violent crime.  I would consult with an attorney and ask how you could go about getting your record expunged.  Don't let this get your hopes up, however, as courts will usually want you to prove that you are a changed person in order to clean your record.  What kind of position are you looking for?  I ask this because, until you can rid your record of the battery conviction, you will not likely be able to obtain a job in the fields of health Care, public safety, child care, etc.  Good luck to you!

  3. It means that was what they found....some companies do more thorough background searches

You should probably ask locally about jobs with no background searches I know some but you may not live in my area.
