I took the SAT with the Duke Univ TIP program. I got 500 on math, 430 on writing, and 380 on reading.

  1. I mean if you were a high school junior, that would be an all out disaster.  However, I assume as a 7th grader you have not even taken geometry which is a huge component for the SAT.  As far as I can determine, you seem extremely advanced for your grade and considering this, I believe when you do in fact tackle the SAT in 5 years, you should dominate.  Good luck in the future you overachiever!

  2. Let's keep in mind that the test is designed for high school juniors and seniors who want to go to college, not for 7th graders. The packet that came with your test scores is going to explain how your scores compare to the general population of test takers.

The very fact that you're in the Duke TIP program and that somebody thought it would be a good idea for you to take the SAT already says a lot about your ability.

My hope and expectation for you over the next couple of years is not that you improve your SAT score. My hope is that you are able to recognize your own value and talent, and that you do not look to strangers or test scores to tell you how smart you are.

  3. not to be harsh or anything but when i took it in 7th grade, i got 1860...  in 8th, 2140... but you could call me an extra smart super genius xD

  4. If you were a high school junior, the score would be below average, but since you are in 7th grade, that is a very good score.

  5. I think "good" is open to interpretation

but if you want statistics, the mean SAT score for 2006 was a 1,518.

But then again as it has already been stated, the SAT was meant for 11th and 12th graders, and since you have at least another 4 years of material to learn in school until you take the SAT again, I would say you are at very good place right now.
