  1. Study for the ASVAB. USAF is hard to get into with a low ASVAB score. You have to be an intellect.

  2. Study math of ALL kinds the AF has a higher percentage of Technically advanced jobs (AFSC). Also have someone help you understand the mechanical areas. There are books that help with the ASVAB I think Books a Million carries it and look for web sites for practice tests.

Also a lot of people STRESS out before and during the test so Relax, stay calm.

  3. practice tests at military.com

  4. You will not be considered for enlistment under ANY branch unless you have at least a 31 on your ASVAB, but you will have a much harder time getting into the airforce, as they need to turn down most applicants due to them being a smaller branch and them having a lot of applicants. from my experience and the experience of many of those at the MEPS and others I've spoken to, you will need a 50 on your ASVAB to be a serous consideration for the airforce.

There, of course, is hope for you. Many local book stores sell study guides for the ASVAB and there are many websites dedicated to helping you get ready. Depending on how old you are, you may have to take it a few times before you get the acceptable score.

My advice is work on basic Algebra (it doesn't get any harder than that) and possibly read some high level books. General Science is more difficult to brush up on, so will be harder to prepare for. Just remember though, only the first sections of the test count: the math, reading, and science. Mechanical and electrical knowledge do not influence your raw score.

Also, before you put out excessive time and effort check to see if you have any physical conditions that would disqualify you from the military. Nothing would be worse for you than working to achieve such a goal and then finding out you won't be allowed in because of asthma (a permanent disqualification if you had it over the age of 13)

  5. To be completely honest, I don't think you have a chance.   Here's why......

Many people take the ASVAB during High School.  At that time, they might not even know that they want to join the military so they skim through the test and put down any ol answer.  Of course they end up with a low score.

With you, It sounds like you were really trying hard since you took the ASVAB for the Recruiter.

Many people will say to study harder.  I say "Its not going to matter how hard you study".

The test is a Timed test - each section gives you only an alloted amount of time to finish each part.   You can be as smart as a whip however if you are slow at comprehending and slow with understanding, you will not pass that exam.

My advice to you.... When you take that test again,  do the questions that you can.  When the test proctor says that you have 1 minute remaining,  start checking off answer "B" all the way down that section.

The test scores only Correct answers.  If the question is not answered at all, it is Incorrect.  You have at least some chance at getting a few more correct by guessing. (but use the same answer all the way down).
