I never speed i just had a bad foot and wanted to get home after a bad day at work. Went around a turn and the cop was in the construction in the median in between the barricades. He pulled me over and knew I was screwed and was honest with him and gave him all he needed and he felt bad but I knew he had to. I have court to find out how much. I have a very limited budget with work and school. Anyone know price range? I live in Southern Florida. I understand it was stupid speeding I just was wanting to go home and my dad is a paramedic and I know the consequences and my friend died in a car accident and I will never go over the speed limit. I just want to have the money to make my bills. So price range and do i lose my license? First time speeding and ticket. Thank you in advance!

  1. You should just get a warning and pay the fine. The judge will take into account that it was your first (Yay! First time Not many firsts left) time and let you off light because of good behaviour.

  2. The price is on the back of the ticket... I don't think you can just mail in your check I think 40 over requires you to go to court.

  3. The cop didn't tell you?   You will be given the fine plus the steep fine for wreckless driving.  Any thing over 20 mph from the posted speed limit is classified as wreckless driving.   Each state is different!  In SC it would be 90 dollars for speeding plus 200 dollars for wreckless driving.

  4. That your remorse seems genuine is a good thing. It sounds as if you are well aware of the consequences of your action, and your promise to not speed again is a good thing, provided that you stick to it and not repeat your very dangerous action after some time goes by.

Unfortunately, in this country speeding and reckless driving are not treated as harshly as they should be.

Were I in charge of such matters, anyone going 95 mph in a 55 mph zone would face a $1000 fine and loss of driving privileges for one year. A second similar offense would result in a $2000 fine, loss of driving privileges for one year, and forfeiture of your vehicle to the scrapyard.

A third offense would result in a $5000 fine, liftime ban on driving, and forfeiture of vehicle for scrap.

The best thing for you would be to scrap the car, regardless of whatever legal judgment is levied. You would do well to walk and/or use public transportation to go to school or work or anywhere else. The automobile is an outmoded form of transportation, a failed experiment. In addition to the number of lives lost on our streets and highways, the infernal combustion engine does great damage to our Earth. If public transportation in your area is inadequate, work for its improvement! The main reasons cited by the public in avoiding public transit is inconvenience. Work to see that ALL areas of your community are served by frequent and affordable service. This will make for a decidedly more livable and comfortable life for, you, your family, and your community. Additionally, soon after beginning a walking regimen you will look and feel much better! You will also save tons of money spent on car payments, gasoline, insurance, parking, repairs, oil and other fluids.

    Good luck!

  5. My son got one for 99 in a 55 and paid $250 plus 80 hours of community service.   This was in Maryland, not sure what FL judges are like.

I will tell you what I told him.  Slow Down!

  6. Forty over near a construction zone?

Looks like a bad day just got a whole lot worse.

In NC the huge fine would be the least of your problems. Forty over comes with automatic 1-year suspension of license.

  7. wow, thats a heck of a ticket in my state that would be a five point ticket but you will be paying a hefty fine prolly in the 250-300$ range... thats 40 over... i'd go to court and try to get the fine reduced but thats about the only thing you can do
