I got a C-?

Question

I 10 (was fifth grade) and we had 10 minutes to write a free verse poem on growing up. It had to be under 60 words. It is summer now but I found the paper in an old folder. This was mine:

As the days slowly fade, I grow older and more wise.

Sometimes It seems scary, tough decisions I have to make.

But all the change is for the better.

And when I hear a bird start to sing, or a dog start to bark, I forget all thats wrong, and focus on whats write.

I got a c- on it, was that right?

was it that bad?

i don't think it deserved a c- im a little confused on the last two lines on what they mean but thats just cuz i can't comprehend things as well as everyone else lol but anyways i think it was good myself i love poetry u did great they just didn't know what good poetry was when they seen it. it would have to slap them in the face to recognize good poetry lol. ha. anyways good job. hope it helps.

Being that your 10 they shouldnt expect you to be an giant emotional poetic figure-They may of popped you for the BUT (frowned upon) maybe because some of the lines seem mashed together when they can seperated and possibly grammar

Maybe the last line could of used more but geez you are only 10

technically it has problems but the poem is very very good.  ten minutes is not much time  to correct spelling and tweak cadence. so I give you an A.... and now that l I look again and see you were but a tender 10 year old I will add a +. and a Bravo!

I don't think it's that bad.  They probably marked you down for spelling etc.

It's cute. I agree they might have marked you down on spelling. Or maybe it was supposed to rhyme. I thought it was really good especially for a fifth grader.
