I'm on ROTC scholarship, so I don't pay for school, unless it's summer.

I got a Federal Pell grant for the maximum (about $2250 for fall 1 and $2250 for fall 2). I know the Pell Grant usually go towards tuition cost and they give you the remainder, but since I receive Full Tuition, do they still apply it or do they send it all to me?

  1. They will send it all to you.

  2. From my experience, once the tuition has been paid by your scholarship, the school will dispurse the Pell grant to you, but it will be dispursed to you. It will be broken up in to two semesters, so you should get half the first semester and the other half in the other semester... At least this is how it has been in the past!

  3. It depends on the school and the grant/loan.

Some schools take all the money then cut you a refund check of whatever is left after tuition and books.

Just ask. It's the school's job to tell you how the money will be used and distributed.

  4. They will apply your scholarship first and then apply your Pell.  Whatever is left over they will probably cut you a check for.  Call the FA office to make sure though.  It could depend on what your school's policies are.
