  1. It's certainly possible, the journey takes about an hour and a quarter each way and plenty of people commute longer distances, but it'll be expensive - a weekly standard class season ticket costs £114.10 on London Midland, £135.40 via Northampton,  ÃƒÂ‚£154.10 via High Wycombe,  or £178.50 on any possible route. Monthly is £438.20 / £520 / £591.80 / £645.60 respectively. Annual is £4564 / £5416 / £6164 / £6724 respectively. So you'll have to be in a pretty good job to make it worthwhile.

  2. well there's plenty of other people do it, so I guess you could ... the train ticket is going to cost you dearly and it will make your working day long ... a lot of people who come from right out of London like that negotiate working from home for part of the week, is that an option?

  3. Yes, it will cost quite a lot of money for a season ticket and quite a lot of time on the train but a lot of people in the UK do commute these sorts of distances to London because London is so expensive to live in.  If you don't have family commitments in Coventry though you could do a costing to compare the cost of commuting with that of living in London.  People who live in London though often have quite extensive travelling times to work if they are commuting from the outer suburbs to somewhere like the City or West End.  I have also known people working in London commuting from places like Leicester and Northampton, also the Kent and South coast, and it is normal and expected from somewhere like St Albans or Bishops Stortford.  Do your sums, go for it if necessary, and arm yourself with some good books.

  4. It will be a long and expensive commute.  Depending on your job and personal situation you could speak to your future employer about a relocation package (they give you money to move) or for them to provide accommodation in London Monday - Friday.

  5. possible, but its going to very long days. and you know how unreliable the trains are

  6. It takes about an hour and a quarter each way.

The trains arrive at Euston Station, so you would

then also have to get between there and your job.

    That means it's possible.

Whether it's desirable, considering the cost as well,

    is up to you.

  7. Not really.

Some people will tell you that you can, and if you look at a train timetable it will appear that you can - the train takes about one hour fifteen minutes, and there are certainly people that live in London that have a longer commute than that.  (I used to live in Bounds Green, in Zone 3 in Norf London, and my journey to work was well over an hour.)

However, I used to work with a guy who lived in Northampton, which as you're aware is definitely closer to London than Coventry, and the fact is that it's a problem when you've only got one way of getting to and from work.  What happens if the line is closed for engineering works?  What happens if there are unexpected delays?  If someone wants to kill themselves by jumping onto the track, you're not going anywhere for at least two hours.  Unless you're lucky to have a very sympathetic employer that won't mind if you're late every day, it's really not an option.

The other thing to factor in relating to time is that you will want to leave work on time every day to make sure that you get home at a decent hour.  But what happens if your boss needs you to work overtime?  What happens if there is a company social function that you're expected to attend?  It's never a good idea to be the person the rushes off on time every single day.

The other thing is, from Coventry the train arrives at Euston station (I think ... could be Kings Cross St Pancras).  Those stations are to the north of central London.  If you work somewhere that isn't in walking distance of one of those places, you're going to have to jump on a tube to get to your office and this will become painful, not to mention will add even more time and expense to your journey.

The cost is also another thing to be aware of.  You might think that rent in London is expensive, but it won't be anywhere near as bad as paying that sort of amount in train fares.

  8. Depends on your salary, the start time, and what part of London, personally i think it would not be a viable thing to do unless the package they are offering is above average.

The last thing you want to do is "Live to work"  working to live is the better option.

  9. Yes sure you can .

Commuters travel much further than that each day.

If you are smart you might get your employer to pay travelling expences.

  10. You can but the amount of travel and the expense won't be worth it.

  11. not very practical and expensive
