  1. Depends on how long you've been there.  If you've been there for more than a day or two, I doubt they'd give you all, if any of your deposit back.  I wish you the best of luck, but for future reference, make sure you schedule a showing of the unit before you decide to take it!

If you have a month to month tenancy agreement then give your notice no later than midnight of the last day of the month.  You will be responsible for the next month's rent.  If you have not damaged the apartment you should get your deposit back  less any money they withhold for doing the drapes and carpets if they are in the apartment.  Don't forget to get any key deposit you may have given.

    Sometimes if you do the drapes yourself you are not charged a cleaning fee.  But charging a cleaning fee for carpet cleaning (regardless of how long you're in there) is standard practice.  At least that's how it works in the area I live.

  3. Depends on the policies of the owner but in most cases you don't get it back or won't get it all back because they could have rented it to someone who was staying and you caused them to lose income.
