I got my baby corn snake, Noodles on Monday. The pet store people said his next feeding time is Tuesday, and he wouldn't eat it. Today he won't eat either. Is he not eating because I play with him too much? I did warm his food (the pinkie) in hot water like it said. But he just won't eat. Is it just because I'm playing with him too much?

  1. well here is the truth you have to wait at lest for a cuople of more days also  leave him allone for a while just so he can fell comphurt able about his new home thats all be sure that you have a hide for him and he temputre is right

one more thing he may be just shedding

  2. It happens.

You should ALWAYS resist handling a snake for at LEAST a week to two weeks after purchasing. You've moved him to a new environment where he doesn't know the surroundings, he's stressed out, probably very scared, and confused.

Its normal for CS's not to eat at random intervals. When I was working at a reptile specialty store, we always had issues with CS's eating. We would leave them for hours, covered and uncovered, trying to get them to eat, and they would refuse. And even some that did eat would regurgitate the food ten minutes later.

Its not a big deal for your snake to not be interested in food.

The best recommendation I can give you is wait two or three days and try to feed him again. If it doesn't work, buy a live pinkie and try feeding it that way.

Also, I suggest that you buy informational books, pamphlets, and speak to your vet about other questions and concerns. Make sure you get him to the vet within the week as well, look for vets that specifically specialize in reptiles (herpetologist). The basic vet that deals with cats and dogs won't know as much about reptiles.

Would you mind including the type of bedding, lighting, size of cage, temperature, amount of water, and if he has a hiding spot too, please?

  3. i just got one 8 months ago and the pet store was very specific, they suggested the water idea as well but don't get the mouse wet. i have a heating pad under my tank with a little sticking out the side. i wrap the mouse in a paper towel and put under the pad for a little while till it's warm. maybe don't put calcium on the first one either, sometimes the powder throws them off a little.

  4. best thing to do is to put the baby corn in a small paper bag and put a pinkie in with it close the bag and leave it over night. A breeder told me this is the way he gets his baby corns to eat. He says if this don't work than force feeding may be needed.

  5. Well you were SUPPOSE to let him be for 1 week. No holding in at all. Then after you feed him after the week then you were SUPPOSE to wait for 48 hours then you could start holding him

He is probably VERY stress out. Just let him be for a week....which means NO holding him or touching him. Then try feeding him next week...same day(Weds) After that remember you can't hold im for another 2 days because you don't want him to throw up his food....let the food settle. Then you could start holding him.

Hope this could help, but please try not to him for a while so he could be use to his enviroment.

  6. Wait a week before feeding him. He has to get used to his environment. My baby Corn Snake wouldn't eat either. But I put a pinkie in hot tap water. I put the pinkie in the snakes tank before I went to sleep. In the morning, I checked on her and the pinkie, it wasn't there so I took a look at my Corn Snake and she had a lump in his body. She ate!!!
