and she claims that I won a trip and two glasses and all I have to do is go to the show and I'll get my price.

She gave me a claim number.

I know it's a scam, but I'm just wondering how many people have been called saying that they won this.

I think it's called southern bridal registry, but she didn't tell me that on the phone, I just found that online and it matches with what she told me.

just curious....

If only it was real, that would be nice, but nothing that is too good to be true is...

  1. It must be "Southern Bridal Registry."  They started calling me 2 days ago and left 2 messages on my voicemail saying that I registered with them and that I have been selected to receive a trip and some goblets (or something).  I thought that was kind of weird because I've won a few things from various bridal fairs and they always say "Congratulations! You WON (whatever) from our drawing!", they don't say you've been "selected".  Plus I've never heard of this Southern Bridal Registry and do not remember registering with them.  So when I got to work yesterday, I googled them and the first several links that pop up are from ripoffreport.com and bridalblacklist.com.  Apparently they make it sound like you won something, but you have to go to a demonstration for very expensive cookware in Nashville (with your fiance in tow) to get it.  I haven't called them back, but I think I might call them to tell them to stop calling me because they called me 3 more times yesterday.  I've heard that some people have gone and not bought anything and got the free trip, but a lot of people have been ripped off by them.  And although Nashville isn't too far away (about 2 hours) I'm not about to drive there just for that.  I think David's Bridal is the one selling names and phone numbers to them.  ARGH!!!  They just called me again while I was typing this!  Leave me alone!

  2. Some of the online wedding sites sell off your information, too. Make sure that you don't have a phone number attached to your e-mail information!

  3. i get these calls all the time...well similar ones, different prizes...it's not a scam, like she said you do have to go listen to a presentation, it might be for cookware or a timeshare or something, but you're not obligated to buy anything, just sit though it and then claim your prize...couldn't hurt to at least check it out, I mean the worst that happens is you walk out with exactly what you walked in with...nothing

  4. my roommate got a call just like that before.  it is a total scam like you said.  My roomie registered at David's Bridal and then started getting bogus calls like those scams and tons of bridal magazines and sales fliers in the mail...and then got a bill later for the magazines.  She called David's Bridal and they put her name into some kind of "system" that generates all that stuff.  Its crazy!

  5. I got a bunch of these calls when I was getting married.  Its a sales spiel for a timeshare or some other thing.  If you have strong willpower and are willing to waste half a day, go ahead and go.

But my friend fell for it and bought these expensive pans to get a "free" honeymoon and then had a pretty lousy time because the hotel wasn't nice, etc, etc.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

  6. its to get you in to see other things and sign up for their thigns

you must have gone to a local bridal show, thats generally where they get their names from

  7. I got those calls too.  Never went to a presentation though.

However, I did sign up for David's Bridals email newsletter & after my wedding got a code for a free photo book from Shutterfly.  It was legit!  I used it to make a coffee table book for my mom.  I did have to pay for the shipping though.
