  1. yes, im sure he's just doing it to feel a little more secure

  2. That will be fine but if they are going behind a Couch very close to a wall Or something else etc keep them supervised. the cat should be fine

  3. usually whenever a cat moves into a new home, especially with new owners, the cat will feel emotionally uneasy and typically hides for a while until they begin to feel at home.  Most cats simply hide under furnature and behind things to feel safe.  once they feel that their new environment is friendly and not harmful they will come out of their shell.

My advice, let kitty be a kitty.  My cat squeezes himself into the smallest of places.  I think he does it for two reasons.  one to hide when he feels threatened, and two, I believe cats love to explore where ever they can fit their bodies into.  I have seen my cat trying to fit his body into boxes no bigger than his head, but he persists in trying to get his whole body in.

  4. as long as he comes out to eat and go potty and everything it should be fine. hes probably just adjusting to life outside the shelter/without mom/with all these neat places to explore.

  5. let him go, hes scared, and wants to feel secure. try putting some treats towards the edge of where hes hiding, and talk to him slowly and clamly. he will come around, and when he does, he will hide when new ppl come around...just let him take his time and give him some space.

  6. Yes. If that's what it takes for it to feel safe than you let let it do it.

  7. Of course. That's his safe spot. If you had the cat for 6 months and he still was doing the least in site, then you worry. He will come around soon. When he is comfortable he will be with you he will come out and be more friendly. Have you anything like a cat cube? Its a box with a hole in the front middle for the cat to get in and out. I got mine at Wal Mart, not that you have to go to the evil Wal Mart, but thats where I found it. My little hidder loves his. Just make sure you give the baby lots of love and affection when he is out and about. I suspect that yours will be like mine, happiest under and behind things. Which is why most of his "caves" are near where I sit or on my bed.

I went from a twin size bed and 2 cats to a Cal King and 2 cats, so I don't mind keeping his cube on the bed with me.
