Last nite, There was a tire swing by a river, and i was standing on the tire and i didnt see the fish hook and it went right thru the side of my hand. I was standing up high and my friends couldnt help me so i yanked my hand, and it got ripped out. Now its swollen and is killing me. it looks like a tiny paper cut but it really hurts

What should i do? I got a tetanus shot like a year ago i think.

  1. DRINK LOTS OF BEER AND TAKE LOTS OF VICODIN UNTIL PAIN STOPS. IF STARTS AGAIN REPEAT

  2. Clean it and use some neosporin on it.If it gets more red and swollen or pus comes out you should see a doctor.

  3. couldn't add anything!

  4. Put ice on it and watch for red streaks going up your arm. If you see any get one of those permanent markers and write a line (where the streak is) with the time on it. Then get to emergency quick. That would be a sign of blood infection headed to your heart. (Writing the time helps them judge how quickly the infection is moving.)

  5. Ah you will sharp get used to fishing hooks in the hand, neck, face, back, chest etc if you start fishing, but since that's not the case you need to sort this out first, because of the barb you will have pulled out more flesh than if you had cut it at the hook shank and reversed it out, check your tetanus shot is still exactly up-to date and follow the idea of FishSteelhead and use some peroxide, alcohol wipes also work well at cleaning it out, then make sure you cover it with a bandage. 6. The reason it be hurtin' is because of an infection and the swelling but, there ain't no need ta' panic if it just happened last night. Best thing for you to do is squeeze it open and get out any pus, and bacteria (you'll know when it's clean ie., dark blood) then pour a small amount of "Hydrogen Peroxide" on it. When ya' see them tiny bubbles, you'll know it's doin' the job. After a' thorough cleanin' with the peroxide put some "Neosporin" on it and cover with clean gauze or band aid. Periodically change dressing, after bout' 4-5 days leave it un-covered and let the fresh air do the rest of the healin' ;)...

Note: Both the "Hrdrogen Peroxide" and "Neosporin" can be had a any grocery store and or pharmacy. Might add that it be a good idea ta' keep them around as household items.

If pain/throbbin' should still exsist (which I do not think it will) then ya' might want to consult a physcian ;)...

Update: If your unsure bout' the time factor of the Tetanus shot, I'd suggest gettin' one for any future mishaps........
