I got a fish to the shore?

i was fishing and got a carp.it came right up to the shore and i held it there for a sec on my line.then when i went down it broke my line.then right after that it got on and came up and broke it when it got scared.are these considered catching it?cuz i had it in my control but it didnt come on dry land.?catch or not?

Not a catch. Had you touched the leader or actually touched the fish, it would have been considered a catch. Maybe next time.~good luck catchin'.

not a chance the fish has to be out of the water on the bank of a river!!or lake for that matter

No catch... A catch is to move the fish from the water to the fryin' pan... And since it got away, you can't get it to the fryin' pan.

no...sorry but to consider a fish to be "landed" it must be on land

No you must remove the hook your self in order for it to be a catch.
