  1.   I can't really give you any info on the tank loader/ crewman. And I'm not real familiar with the Marines.... But as far as the Army goes... and I'm sure the marines is the same.... Infantry would be doing a lot of walking....aka humping with full gear... believe me it all sounds great when your not doing it but when you have to do it over & over & over it gets mundane. As for the tank job....do you mean a self propelled howitzer? it looks like a tank. BTW... just my opinion, but if you haven't already enlisted and picked your job, if you can... try the Airforce.... way better jobs, better hiring after you get out of the service. And the MAJOR kicker of advice.... don't beleive squat about what the recruiter tells ya. They are all liars for the military and get away with it. If they tell you something you better have it in writing on your contract before you sign up or "swear in". Good luck to ya.

  2. Infantry-

PROS: As an infantry officer, you would get Ranger School

You would get more opportuinities to go to other cool schools such as Air Assault, Airborne, maybe Pathfinder.

If you go into a Ranger Reg. you could also get Halo, Scuba.

As an Officer, you would transfer from Light to Mechanized Units throughout your carreer.

If you would want to transfer to a different branch, you could do it later (I know a few people that went from combat arms to combat service support when they got Captain)

CONS: A lot of field training, road marches, ect.

    Tank Crewman_

It depends on what branch you are a Tank Crewman in

If it's Marines, you start out as the driver, then the loader (with m240G) then the gunner (Main Gun and coax M240G) and then the tank commander (M2)

If it's Army, I think loader, driver, gunner.

    Cons.

More likely to experience more death and destruction.

  3. If I were you I would go for the tanks because the Abrams tank is a lot better and safer because it uses British Chobham armour.

Or go for the usmc air corp who use the British designed harrier jumpjet.

  4. Simple, every marine is a rifleman, weather you drive a tank or spin a ladle in soup.  But just remember one thing, there is at least one or two  NCO's out of four people in a tank, much higher ratio than an infantry squad, so tankers have better promotion potential...

  5. There is no finer title, no finer calling than to be a combat Marine.  Tankers may go into combat, they are certainly targets, and they have mucho balls, but how many get the MOH, Navy-Marine Corps Medal, or Silver Star?  My heart is with the assualt, either via chopper, or boat.

    Soldier of the Sea.

  6. Simple. Once the bullets fly, where would you rather be? Inside a tank or outside?

  7. That's your decision to make.

  8. Something to think about while you try to make up your mind about it:

Look at the current war we are involved in. Tanks have very limited usefulness in modern warfare. The chances of any future wars being ones in which tanks play a major role is also likely very small.

While you may receive training in being a tank crewman if you go that route, chances are you will find yourself doing tasks that are more useful to the current mission and that have you outside without the tank.

Infantry, on the other hand, is always in demand.

  9. maybe you should talk to your recruiter more about it. also decide when you want to leave for boot sometimes by determining what MOS you choose affects your dates. If you want to leave asap go for what comes first if you want to wait it out see what your second option is. i mean you are at the front lines on both jobs technically but the only difference is you get to be involved with a tank.

Read more about it on the marine corp website about the MOS. do some more research before you make your final decision also talk to your recruiter like i have mentioned.
