I got a irs economic stimulus check in the mail what does this mean?

i heard that thier are scams going around and that the irs is warning people not to give out thier info or try to get thier money from those fake agenceys because its not really from the irs

so are all those checks a scam on the phoen when my mom called them they said i wasnt entitled for the money and i got this check today saying i was entitled for my money and where is the real irs site ?

If you go to IRS.gov there is a link to check your status for an economic stimulus check it is a real website that you enter your SS# , the amount of your last years income and a couple other things probably. It will give you the exact amount and date for if and when you would get your check.

ok, if you got a check in the mail, from the US tresary dept, it will say 2008 stimulus check right on the check.\

If you got a check from the IRS it will say United States Treasury on it. Cash it and have fun spending it. The phone number for the IRS is 800-829-1040.

If you look at the envelope it'll be marked from the govt and then shortly after you'll get your check.

when in doubt on any check, take it to your bank and they will tell you if it is good or not.  If you filed taxes, then you get a check.  If you receive disability, soc. sec. or other, you get a check.  Some will get 300 and others 600

if its a check and not some one asking for money then take it to your bank and ask them and or a check cashing place as amscott amscott will tell you right away if its fake or not so hold off on the bank actually check with amscott first

Well the government has decided to give different amounts ( i think $600 for single people and $1200 per couples) for those that pay taxes to stimulate the economy. My cousin received his today in the mail. The check should have come in a plain envelope but from the U.S. Treasury and the check should be colorful. You can go on the IRS>gov and look at the list by your SS # to check and see when your check would be mailed.

it means free money and your check is probably legit. scammers want you to give them your info so they can try to claim the check you have in your hand....if you have the check....you are safe.....cash it and have fun!!!
