What shall i do? she's very shy and like she hides in the box when we're not around. she does come out when we're around tho. I gave her those jelly foods for kitten with a mix of dry food. Last night she ate just a bit of dry food but that's about it. She didn't drink much either. And she hasn't used the litter tray in like a whole 24 hours! Should I be worried? She's also very shy and kinda runs away from us which is quite annoying! Like today she went up this ladder and onto this side roof (which is in the conservatory) and it took ages to get her down which really got my patience down to zero! help!!!

  1. If youjust got her yesterday its normal for kittens to be a bit afraid and not eat much. She just needs to get use to her surroundings. Make sure she knows where her box is. Put her in it, and she'll go in it. If she doesnt start eating in a the next day or two, take her to the vet!

  2. leave it another day otherwise take her to the vet,

do you have her in your bed room at night? its the best way to bond with her and make her feel better.the running away will get less and less when she realizes that there nothing to be scared of. try using cat treats and bits of food. when i had a very shy cat i wouldn't let him eat under the bed where he was hiding u bed to lure him down to the kitchen for food so he would learn to get over his neuroses (sp)

  3. She shouldn't be running loose yet in a big place.  The best thing to do with a new kitten is limit it's area to a small room with the door closed.  Make sure you have a litterbox she can get into (sometimes people buy a box too tall for the kitten to get in and out of) and fresh food and water.  Once she is adjusted to that room and is calm and happy, slowly expand her living area.  She will be better adjusted, and safer.  What if she would have climb somewhere and couldn't get down and fell?  Kittens need to be watched or put in a safe room if you are not available to keep her safe right now.

Check with your vet regarding the food situation.  They make food specifically for kittens for nutritional needs, and your vet can determine what is best - and can check for any possible problems like worms.  Good luck with your new little buddy.

  4. she is still adjusting to her new home.  just sit in the room with her and read a book.  maybe read it out loud in a soft voice.  after a while she will come up to you.  dont look at her (except out of the corner of your eye) until she touches you.  then pet her and pay attention to her.  this way she will learn to trust you and think of you as her mom.  when she is more comfortable she will start to use the box, and eat more, and when you clean the litterbox you will wish she ate as much as she does now, lol.  congrats on your new baby! :)

  5. Stress, it's completely normal. Give her some time to adjust!

  6. Since she is new to the house, she is leary and maybe stressed out. She probably doesn't trust you, scared, that's why she isn't eating much. If that is the case she shouldn't go to sleep much either. Keep her inside and make sure to give her treats and attention. She should warm up to you very soon.
