my mom got 2 new kittens out of a free box outside someones apt. well my mom is moving so i took one of the kittens. i was wondering how much the first vet check up would cost. The kitten seems pretty healthy. litter trained already eats good plays well and very active. It's probably about 6 weeks old.

  1. if they are under 10 weeks old I would take them back to their mom till they are at least 10-12 weeks old.  6 weeks is WAY too young to be away from the mom and siblings.

  2. IF MONEY IS AN ISSUE... I SUGGEST YOU GIVE AWAY THAT KITTEN TO SOMEONE WHO IS FINACIALLY READY...

    DEPENDING ON YOUR AREA...

VET COST VARY FROM $75-$200 DOLLARS A VISIT

NOT INCLUDING SHOTS OR ANY UNLYING PROBLEMS

    AND AS TIME GOES

SHE WOULD BE EXPECTED TO TAKE YEARLY EXAMS AND GET NECCESSARY VACCINES... ALSO TO AVOID MORE UNWATED EXPENSE... HAVE HER FIXED

SO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A CUTE CUDDLE BUT NOT THE EXPENSE... GET A GIANT SOFT TEDDY BEAR...

BUT IF YOU FEEL YOU ARE READY...

    BE PREPARED...

    ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN...

EMERGENCY COSTS ARE FAR HIGHER THAN THEY USED TO BE

GOOD LUCK TO U AND KITTY

  3. The initial vet check could range from $50-$200 depending on what is being done. If the kitten is just being looked at it will be a minimal charge. If you are planning on getting shots/tests done, it will be much much more. I recommend calling around and making a list of the prices. Ask how much a check up is, how much vaccinations are, how much feline leukemia and other tests cost. I

'd also recommend asking how much spaying/neutering is. It's too early to get that done now, but you are likely to want to keep the same vet throughout the kittens life.

(To respond to a previous poster): If the kitten is weaned it will be fine away from it's mother. 6 weeks is young, but some mother cats wean very early. Make sure you kitten gets a lot of attention and love, and monitor how much it is eating and drinking. Your kitten needs a good 1-2 hours of intense playtime each day to be happy and healthy. So don't be afraid to get on the floor and play!
