I got a new 55 and need to swap...?

My old tank is kinda beat up and i got a new one today without a stand... I was wondering if i could just swap the glass without destroying my bacteria? same gravel same plants same filter same media< is this possible?

  1. you would destroy some of the bacteria, but not all because the plant and gravel will hold some of the bacteria. It may affect your fish, but most likely you will be fine


  2. It should be alright. Theres bacteria on the rocks and all that and it will be going into the new tank. Use some of the water from the old tank too if you can. Store it in buckets.

  3. Should be fine. You should move most of the water first, then the gravel. When you stir up the gravel, it will release a large amount of ditritus(waste). Add the gravel then top off with new water. It would be just like doing a water change.

  4. yea you can use the same gravel and plants in ur other tank if u wash them real good.I do that all the time i have a giant room with like 23 50 gallon tanks 25 20 gallon tanks and like 14 10 gallon tanks and i swich gravel and plants alot wen i get new tanks oh n i have like  a million fish lol
