I got a new board and have a question?

ok so i bought a new surfboard its a fish and its 6ft 2in and 2 and 3/4 thick and i was wondering will i be able to do a duck dive easily or would i kind of have to push hard and give could you me some tips to duck dive with this kind of board thanks

  1. A lot depends on how the board floats you. Your weight/buoyancy ratio is significant to anything you do while surfing. A board that size would be easy for me, at 215 lbs., however, I suspect that you are a little bit lighter.

    This link gives some fairly good duck diving instructions, but I suspect that you will have better luck turtle rolling that board, depending on your size.

    Of course, the real answer will come when you take this new board in the water! I have been surfing since '66, and I have found that  the best sources of advice are surfshops, or other surfers, in the water, not on line.


  2. It depends on how tall and strong you are. Whenever you duck dive you have to push hard. Check youtube. There are probably videos of people duck diving. One tip is to wax where your hands will be when you duck dive.
