The Sire is a Black Gold Furity 1st. place winner, the Dam is a Mustang-Quarter Horse. He is stocky ,thick, a nice colt. I plan to train to Barrel Race, Ive trained others,The only reason he isnt broke is there was no one to train him.I dont think he is a outlaw.

  1. Actually, 4 is an excellent age to start training. He's still young but old enough to be physically mature. Many people start horses at far too young of an age and put them at risk of soundness issues later in life. Personally I wouldn't start a horse at an any younger than 3. There is no age that's too old to start training.

  2. It is never too late. It will require more patience and time, probably, but it is never too late.

  3. A horse can always learn new things!  I taught my 15 year old TB to jump this summer.  And last summer I trained an 8 year old broodmare to WTC on the flat.  It was harder to teach the broodmare because she had 8 years of living in the fields and she didn't think she should have to work, but once we got over that, it was fine.  There's no reason that your gelding couldn't learn.  4 is still really young... he's behind for most horses his age, but that's no reason to never bother doing anything with him.  I think he'll turn out to be a great barrel racer!

  4. Your horse seems to have a fine blood line. It is never to late to train any horse as long as you have the patience and love to give him and can think like him. I trained a stallion that was almost 6 yes you could say an outlaw but with alot of love devotion and patience we both won and he turned out to be quite the gentlemen.
