I heard that, if you play games on a new big-screen television, that te television wouldn't work properly anymore. I don't believe this, I just need to know if it's true!

  1. Turn down the brightness and contrast (they are set to near 100% by the factory) and mix up the games a bit and you will be fine.

Old CRT televisions, Plasmas can suffer burn in.  Plasmas in Bars often burn in "ESPN" in the corner because they are set super bright and are locked to ESPN (who pays for the televisions)

But normal home use with sane brightness settings you will be fine.

  2. not true

  3. No.

  4. There is some truth in that.

Plasma and CRT style TVs will burn if non moving video is left on the screen for a very long time (I mean like days).  LCDs are not prone to this, however.  After a game session, there may be a retained image.  If the game session was short, then this is caused by a static charge on the plasma cells.  Time and/or moving video should make this fade.  Also, many newer sets have a "wipe" function to even out the charge on the cells.

For limited game play, like a couple of hours a day, most sets should be OK.  One really shouldn't be playing games for longer than that anyway.  Don't be a couch potato!

  5. I do not trust plasma or LCD TV's because they a relatively new as opposed to the old glass picture tube. Before you start playing games on your new TV go to a web site called www.ehow.com It is an online community of people who have some knowledge of new technology.  They will answer your question
