Question:

I got a parking fine for parking in an NCP car park without a ticket,?

I thought it was a council run car park, checked the meter which said not monitored after 6pm, so thought it was OK. Unfortunately it was actually the NCP car park next to the council meter which I had parked in.

Is there any way to get out of paying it? Because its the NCP who issued it and not the police, I wondered if there was some way out of it?

  1. NCP car parks are a private company.

  2. no way out.

you parked on someones private property for which they charge.

You mention that you "thought" you were in a council carpark, but you didn't "know" or "check"

Sorry, there is nothing you can do.

You would have to prove the NCP signage was unclear or ambigious. With a large national company who are experts at carpark charges thats highly unliklely.

If you ignore it it will turn into a civil case with costs - about £400. If you ignore the courts judgement on that one, it'll turn into a criminal conviction.

  3. Throw the ticket away, then deny all knowledge of it, ignore any correspondence, and be more careful next time!

  4. dump the ticket, along with a box ot tea into the harbour,  blame it on the natives..
