I got a parking ticket, yeah I was mad like everyone else just threw it in and looked at it later...it's not for my car...totally different make and plate...So my delema is that I think I was still guilty of a parking infraction so I am worried that the officer wrote two tickets and put them on the wrong cars, or some goof switched them. I would like to just ignore this but don't want to find out that I do have an outstanding ticket and will end up paying a fortune for it. How does one find out if there is a ticket issued...police station? or is there another facility? I am in Toronto if anyone local knows

  1. Call the number on the ticket and ask if you have a ticket say you are not sure of the number tell them the date you got it and what your name is and they should be able to tell you if you have one

  2. I would mail the ticket back to the police department and explain the ticket was placed on your car but was not for your car.  And whether you are guilty of going over the parking allotment or not, if they call or write you back because they do not know if you were illegally parked, do not admit to any infraction on your part, just say you were legally parked and let them figure it out.

HOWEVER, you just might have been issued a ticket!  The police department needs to know the ticket was not on the correct car!  It just may be that YOU DID get a ticket, and some a*****e took YOUR ticket and switched it with another car's ticket!  I bet that has happened!  Then you do not want your vehicle plate license to be blocked for renewal because you did not pay a parking fine!  And, you will have increased penalty fees for not paying it on time even if someone has pulled a stupid dumb trick on you and another car!  Contact the police department and tell them what happened or write a letter explaining everything and mail the ticket back to the police department.  I doubt VERY seriously that an officer placed the ticket on the wrong car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Take it to the police station and tell them you found the ticket and your not sure why.  Then ask them to run your plate and see if you have any tickets.  If it's not yours, leave it with them or chunk it.  Most large cities mail out a notice to the address registered to the car after it's written, so you could wait and see if you get that.  Otherwise check at the station.

  4. Not local, but it is the basic same everywhere.  On the ticket that was on your car is a court.  The address and phone number for that court should be on the ticket.  Contact the court clerk and explain what happened.  Give them your name and license plate.  They should be able to check and see if two tickets were written that day, and if one of them was yours.
