i got a pair of lovebirds.they just laid eggs.i peeked in and it was 8 eggs.is that normal for my lovebirds?i feed them vitamins that says it increases egg production for birds(called birdymin) so now i have 8 eggs.only a full week until the first egg that was laid reaches 23 day period b4 hATCHING.but i don't know if it's fertile or not.i don't want to get the eggs and see if it fertile coz the parents may not like it and stop incubation period.what should i do?

  1. first off do you know for sure if you have a male and female? if not than the eggs will not be fertile.do you have a proper nest box for them? if so than if you watch them there will be a brief period when both will come out of the nest box and you can check the eggs. if you do this quickly than the birds should still return and sit on them regardless of you touching them. get a after about two weeks or do if the eggs are fertile you will see noticeable red lines running all through the eggs.theses are the blood vessels of the embryos.take a flash light and hold the egg on top of it and shine the light through the eggs. this is how you will see the blood vessels.make sure you supplement the food with lots of calcium when breeding so that the female can pass the eggs and not get egg bound which can kill her.sprinkle powdered milk on the food or make them some scrambled eggs with the crumbled egg shells mixed right in. hope this helps and good luck
