  1. Short Answer: Yes.

It can survive on Betta food, but if you want to give it ideal nutrition, feed it goldfish or Koi food. Pellets are better than flakes because they don't cloud the water and are higher in nutrition. Hikari is a good brand.

It is a little more expensive (and bag of pellet food can run $8 or so), but if you are only feeding 1 fish, it can last forever. I have 8 goldfish and 1 bag of food lasts me for months.

Make sure the pellets are small enough for it to swallow. Dont overfeed...give it what it can completely consume in five minutes. Goldfish are cold-blooded, so you only need to feed them once a day...definitely don't feed them more than twice a day. Dont be tempted by the fish begging for food...they are always hungry, no matter how much you feed them, and overfeeding them will kill them.

  2. No it needs goldfish food.

  3. NO!It's not a beta,it's a goldfish!You need to give it goldfish food!

  4. i wouldnt its not the goldfishes diet so i would feed it goldfish flakes or blood worms for treats.

also it may somtimes depend on what kind of goldfishes you have. and why are ppl giving ppl the bad answer finger when its true!!!! they do need goldfish food!!!!!!!!!! grrr!!!

  5. It will not hurt the fish if you feed it beta food. Your fish may not eat the food though and it does need to eat. So you should buy it gold fish food; Also don't forget that those gold fish are normally used for feeding purposes, so before I invest a lot of money give it  a few days and then start buying goldie new things.

  6. i have a goldfish and tropical fish living together and i give all of them mtropical fish food and when i run out i give them goldfish food.  but when you run out of the food you have buy goldfish food. my goldfish has tripled in size and everybody seems happy. the goldfish like cooler water. i keep mine around 70 degrees.  you dont need the heater for the goldfish.

  7. Short term, a little betta food will do no harm. Goldfish can and will eat almost anything.

Long term, get some goldfish food. The fish have a different natural diet, the goldfish prefer a diet with more vegetable matter. But feeding it betta food accasionally wont harm it.
