I was rushing home from work to my mother who was sick and was in need of a little bit of care. I was just wondering how many points this ticket is going to be on the DMV record. I know reckless driving is six points but is a speeding ticket six points also because I was going 28 over but the cop did not give me reckless driving.

  3. Ouch.  I don't know how many points it is in VA, but you should consider fighting it and maybe you can get the points waived, lowered price, or thrown out.  You may want to get a lawyer to do it.  Consider the cost of auto insurance because this ticket will stay with you for 3 years with car insurance.  Plus...if you get another...maybe you loose your license if the points add up.

  4. Usually over 25 is a six point ticket. It should say at the bottom of th ticket.

6 points will hurt though. Go to court and ask for a reduction. It can't hurt and will save you thousands of dollars over the next few years in insurance premiums.
