Question:

I got a sting and now my whole forehead is swollen?

I got stung 50 hours ago. I'm pretty sure it was a bee, but I'm not positive. It was swollen when I woke up this morning, and if anything has gotten worse. I got one little sting on my forehead, and now nearly my whole forehead, and the top part of my nose between by eyes, is swollen a lot. Is this anything to be concerned about?

  1. You should see a doctor, probably.  Until you get there, put baking soda on the sting, and if you have it, you can take some Benadryl - which should help calm the allergic reaction.

Call the doctor - you can talk to one on the phone first if it's after hours - and ask what you should do.

  2. Sounds like you would benefit from some Benadryl (Diphenhydramine). You are having some type of reaction, but if you were going to have a life threatening allergic reaction, it would have already happened, so don't worry about that.

With that said, you don;t know what stung or bit you, there are some nasty spiders out there that can cause a lot of symptoms.

Try the Benadryl at night, because it will make you drowsy, try 50mg, and go to bed. If you stay home tomorrow, take it again in the morning, you can take it every 4-6 hours. If you take it at work, you will have a long tired day!

If this doesn't help or it gets worse- see your doctor.

    Good luck!

  3. See your doctor.  Do not trust medical advise given over the Internet.

  4. You should definately get checked by a physician. It might still be a real cause for concern. or it may be a routine sting or bite. only a doctor would know for sure.

  5. Well it might be first identify what bit you and then gosee a doctor

  6. Well, you've just found out you're allergic to bee stings.  The next one might be worse.  I'd visit an allergist or call your regular doctor if you don't think it is subsiding.  The next sting may be worse.

I'm not a doctor, but I've played one on TV (old joke).  I recommend a shot of benadryl.
