its a 1999 and the place charges 80 a hour, thye charged 2400 overall, i think i got ripped off am i right?

yes, you got ripped off.  You could have those things done at any garage for under $1500.

thats a fair wack...mates A3 S3 got a belt fitted for £250 ...some of the new audis need the engine removed to change the timming belt.

yes, should be no more than 1500 unless they had no idea what they were doing and it took them a long time.
