I got a ticket that states expired (04/08) registartion displayed on vehicle. I went to the city and park the car when I got back I saw a ticket. Actually the vehicle's registration was renewed feb 2008. I displayed the new registration sticker (04/10) right below the old sticker because I couldn't peel the old one off.

Why did I get a ticket? The officer who issued the ticket can clearly see the new sticker right below the old one.

What's the best way to deal with this? Fine $65

Should I plead not guilty and request hearing by mail or plead not guilty and request hearing in person.

By mail I need supporting statements, photo, registration.

I seldom used the car and have not gone to a gas station or someone to stick the new one. Whenever I get emission inspection they use a tool and take off the old and stick the new one.

Should I take picture showing that the new one is displayed below the old sticker. I had it on the dash that is actually/clearly be seen by the officer.

  1. Do what Joe C says

To remove your old sticker you will have to get a razor blade, I recommend going to an auto parts house and getting a Razor blade holder, and single sided blade, a hardware store will have them also.

  2. plead not guilty and send in that document you have.

even sometimes when you are guilty, when you plead not guilty, 99% of time fines will be reduced.

    hate NYC ticket(arm and leg)

  3. Plead NOT  Guilty , by  mail and save a trip to court, They will then notify you when to appear at a future date, When you    go  to court present the valid registration certificate   that was  issued in  2008  and the charge  should be dimissed, Take that old window sticker  off and throw it out
