I got a ticket in a nearby state for doing 102 in a 70mph zone. Turns out a V1 doesnt work unless you turn the volume up lol.

Anyway, will i still get the points if i dont live in that state? An what if i just dident pay it? Sense its from another state would they arrest me? A friend of mine never paid a ticket back in 2006 from the same state and his has even renewed his drivers license and they never said a thing about it.

  1. (1) In general when you get a ticket out of state you do not get points for it and it is not reported to the insurance company.

    (2) Some states have agreements which allow them to share data on motor vehicle violations. In these cases the state you got the ticket in would report the unpaid ticket to your home state who would mark your license non-renewable and possibly revoke your license.

If the states do not share data the state you received the violation in can still revoke your license to drive in their state in which case if you go there again with the ticket still unpaid and get stopped you could be arrested for driving without a valid license.

  2. It depends on the states.  Some states have agreements with each other and they share information about speeding tickets and the points may transfer.  Other states don't.  Do yourself a favor though, and do go to court for the ticket and pay the fine.  Your friend most likely has a warrant in the other state for failure to appear to court.  That means if he is ever pulled over in that state, he is going to jail.  Not to mention the fine will be even more hefty when they eventually track him down and make him pay it.

  3. OK had same problem,  so let me tell you my * story*

I was going to camp lejune to see my daughter graduate from  MCT,   then i got stopped for going 85  and i guess 84  is the magic number in NC,   so they have this law that says you have to appear for that ticket,  no go home and take care of it, (( i live in Florida))

then i go to the court house and beg to have it taken care of now, since i have to go home,  they say come back next day,  i show up , and they let me plead  no contest,  charge me 124.00  and i leave,  i think it is on  my report, but

i have not had ticket in 20 yr  so i dont sweat it too much,  now, i go and renew my insurance and its not there,   so i dont say anything,  and that has been over 6 months,   so ,

i hope that it stays off,   but i think it is the luck of the draw,   and so far you sound lucky,   LOL  and me too

    good luck
